Dear Community,
Every child deserves to experience the joy of Christmas morning. Our goal this year is to ensure our efforts go beyond the child and positively impact the entire family. We at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwestern Ohio understand that providing services for our youth is just the first step. Research indicates, for more impactful results, we must go deeper in support.
Over the past year, we have expanded our services to include our Little’s family and continue identifying partners that can provide services beyond our capabilities. Strengthening the family through wrap-around services gives our youths a stronger foundation to build, grow and develop. Providing only immediate solutions is not a wise investment in time or resources.
Another initiative we have implemented is the concept of Empowerment, which is the process of becoming stronger and more confident, especially in controlling one’s life. Our Empowering Future Leaders (EFL) program focuses on four primary youth development areas: Life Skills, Leadership Development, Cultural Competence, and Career Development.
Supporting our annual Angel Tree and Gift of Match fundraiser further assists our mission of Empowerment. Your donation will go towards fulfilling a Christmas wish and reducing the number of youths on our waiting list. We also want to proudly announce our Christmas fundraiser partnership with our local Macy’s at Franklin Park Mall, so be sure to visit them!
As part of our mission of Empowering others, all donations will go towards purchasing gift cards so parents/guardians can experience the joy of buying food, clothing, decorations, and toys for their children over the holidays. Imagine what the holidays and Christmas morning would look like with your support.
We are starting early this year to ensure we meet our monumental goal and avoid the challenges associated with supply shortages. For information, review the enclosed flyer, contact us at (419) 243-4600, email: BBBSNWO@bbbsnwo.org or follow us on Facebook @BBBSNWO.
Thank you in advance for your support in bringing joy into a child’s life!
Sincerely,
Dr. Marvin Whitfield
